I want this site to be a relaxed place for Falcom discussion, so while there aren't going to be a lot of strict rules, I am going to enforce some basic standards to keep everything civil.
Rule 1: Don't be a jerk. No flaming, flame-baiting, hate-speech or harassing people.
This should go without saying. Having a strong opinion is fine, putting someone else down because their opinion is different from yours is not. Likewise posting something with the intent to cause other people to respond inappropriately. Hate speech is Not Cool and won't be tolerated.
Rule 2: No spam, piracy or porn. Ever.
No requests for pirated games or other material or links to the same will be tolerated. No sexually explicit material either. If it wouldn't make it into one of Falcom's games, it doesn't belong on this site. Discussion of Dorothee's fantasies is okay, posting your rendition of the bits that would make Emma blush is not.
Rule 3: Keep the swearing to a minimum.
The occasional curse word is fine but not if it's directed at another user or their opinion/argument and not if you're excessive about it or really obscene. The official moderation standard for that is 'I know it when I see it'.
Rule 4: No hassling
If you're posting in such a way that other people are tempted or driven to say 'Enough, already!' then you're probably breaking this rule. If a discussion isn't going anywhere, agree to disagree and move on. Don't continue to argue a point ad nauseam and don't resurrect an old argument in a new topic later on when you aren't saying anything new.
Rule 5: Mark your spoilers
Not everyone has played all the games or read every last bit of supplemental information. If it's not a topic explicitly marked for such-and-such spoilers and you write about something you would rather not have known before seeing it firsthand, chances are other people wouldn't either and it's a spoiler. Be cool, use the spoiler tags (the 'plus with a circle around it' icon) and give some indication what's under the tag.
Rule 6: Don't be a jerk
The catchall rule. If you're violating the spirit of the other rules or messing with everyone else's zen, you may be warned or modded for it. Remember the goal of the site: Enjoyment of a shared interest while being chill.
The Final Rule: My site, my rules
The admin (that would be me) gets to decide what constitutes a violation of the rules. If you don't agree with a moderating decision, make a Private Topic here and I'll be happy to hear you out and give you my reasoning. Likewise if you've reported something and I haven't acted. At the end of the day however, I'll make the call on what is or isn't a violation of the rules and what the appropriate response will be.
